Well it looks like the physical file being used is in C: Program Files Microsoft Office root vfs System MSCOMCTL.OCX and is versioned 7.0.52.6282, even though when I look at tools-references in the Access programming interface it says the file is in C: WINDOWS system32 MSCOMCTL.OCX, and I can browse to it from the tools-references Browse dialog.

1. Download the file mscomct2.ocx to your desktop. Move the ocx file to the program directory missing the file. If step 2 doesn't work. Move mscomct2.ocx to the system directory. Windows 95,98, and Me - C: Windows System - Windows 2000 & NT - C: WINNT System32 - Windows XP,Vista, and Windows 7 - C: Windows System32.
2. Copy to the system folder (c: windows sysWOW64 for 64 bit systems and c: windows system32 for 32 bit) Use regsvr32 through the command prompt to register the file (e.g. ' regsvr32 c: windows sysWOW64 mscomct2.ocx ').

If you have the error message:

'Component 'MSCOMCTL.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.'

Solution:

MSCOMCTL.OCX should be provided with the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 environement.
